This site has been created to provide a marketplace for buying and selling tokens. We offer an auction based site, with member stores for fixed price items.
This is a joint venture between Richard Greever, creator of the tokencatalog.com site and the National Token Collectors Association (NTCA). Membership in NTCA is required to sell items on the site. Access to the site is a benefit of NTCA membership.
Anyone can register as a buyer. But we hope buyers also consider joining NTCA.
Follow the NTCA link above for more information and a membership application.
Anyone can register on the site. The site is sponsored by tokencatalog.com and the National Token Collectors Association (NTCA). Please read the Terms and Conditions when you register. You are entering into a binding legal contract when you place a bid.
All sellers are required to be members in good standing with the National Token Collectors Association (NTCA). It is expected that all sellers abide by the NTCA Code of Ethics.
After you have registered (as a buyer), you can request privileges to sell by sending e-mail to email@example.com. You membership records will be verified with NTCA and if active, you will be enabled to sell.
If you are not currently a member of NTCA, Electronic membership is currently $18/year. Please visit their website at tokencollectors.org for more information and a membership application.
Buyers are NOT required to belong to NTCA.
Once you have registered, send e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
You membership with NTCA will be verified and then your account will be enabled for selling.
Once an item sells, are payment terms between buyer and seller or does it have to be done electronically (as in PayPal)?
Terms of the auction are between seller and buyer. The only requirement is that they be honest and conform to the NTCA Code of Ethics.
PayPal is available as an option, but is not required.
Every seller beings with a $1.00 fee credit when registering on the site. This allows you to try the site. This credit can be used for your initial listing and final value fees (not for site purchases).
Once your credit is used up, you will receive a monthly invoice (if you have a balance). Invoices can be paid by PayPal or personal check (preferred).
Instructions will be provided with your invoice.
Every listing insertion has a fee associated with it (one cent). There is also a Final Value fee if your item sells. Please read set Site Fees on the main menu.
Our automatic bidding system makes bidding convenient so you don't have to keep coming back to re-bid every time someone places another bid.
How automatic/proxy bidding works
A listing of various "tips" for sellers, from lessons learned:
1. If you have ALREADY entered a lot of info in the description of the auction page (page 3 details) and THEN switch from "full auction" to "buy out item" it will erase (LOSE) all the info in the description box, but not the title box.
2. The place to select a "buy out item" auction is on page 3 of the selling setup, at the top left box. Default is "full auction". You must change this to "buy out item" when you get to page three.
3. Dutch auctions are selected on page 4 of the item setup for sales, near the top. Once you have selected "dutch auction" then you can select the number of items you have for sale.
You can edit any auction you create, and to some extent, corrections are easier than the initial entry screen.
This is a good tip if you need to leave MULTIPLE feedbacks all at one time, saves a lot of time!
on the home page, on left side of screen click on "Sold Items" under the category "Selling"
Next screen you will see all the items you have sold. To leave multiple feedbacks, go to one item that you need to leave feedback on, and on the right side of screen click on the button that says "Leave Feedback"
This next screen is the key to leaving multiple feedbacks. Look at the upper right corner you will see a blue box that says "Leave Comments" ...click on that.
Next screen you will see all the items you need to leave feedback on. There will be boxes to the right side of each item you need to leave feedback on, so pick only the boxes you wish to leave feedback on.
When done with that, at the bottom of the page click on the button that says "Proceed".
Next screen, type in the feedback you wish to apply to ALL of the sales you picked on the previous page (as you are doing one message for all those sales), then click on the button that says "Leave Feedback".
That does it! You just left feedback for multiple auctions!
Did you know that as a seller, you can schedule auctions to start in the future at any date and any time? Yes! It is true. The settings for having custom start dates and custom start end times, are on STEP 4 (settings). Pick the box labeled "custom" for the start time and then pick the calendar icon and pick the date you wish to start the auction, and then pick the hour and minute you wish the auction to start.
For instance, you can select to have an auction start on Feb. 15, 2010, at 3:15pm, and have the same auction (or buy out) end on June 12, 2010 at 3:45pm. How is that for great?
I am using this feature to have some auctions all start about the same time after Christmas to avoid any more trips to the post office before the holiday. I am also having some auctions end prior to the Labor Day 2010 national show in Fargo, so that I can take any unsold tokens to Fargo with me if I wish.
There are many ways to use these features! Explore, experiment! You will learn a lot!
